About this Event
In our second Round Table, we will be discussing the mutually reinforcing influences between the art of Flamenco and Manuel de Falla, one of the most universal composers in the history of Spanish music. In his music he achieved a  fusion of poetry, asceticism, and passion that represents the spirit of Spain at its purest.   To enlighten and enrich ourselves in the knowledge of his work, its history and its influence on the development and transformation of Flamenco art, we will have three very special panelists who make us feel immensely privileged.
- Angel Gil-Ordóñez is a Spanish-born American conductor who co-founded  the PostClassical Ensemble with music historian Joseph Horowitz and serves as its Music Director. He is also the Principal Guest Conductor of New York’s Perspectives Ensemble and the Music Director of the Georgetown University Orchestra in Washington, D.C.
- José-Luis Novo is the longest-serving music director in the history of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Since his appointment in 2005, his continuous drive for artistic excellence, innovation, and collaborations with some of today’s most respected guest artists, have resulted in unprecedented artistic growth, praising audiences, and enthusiastic reviews.
- Trinidad Pardo Ballester,  is a experienced Director with skills in Cultural Studies, Theatre, and International Relations. Strong professional with a Ph.D. focused in Spanish Literature and Cultural Studies from Georgetown University, and author of the book  "Flamenco: orientalism, exoticism and the Spanish national identity".
At the end of the discussion, and before going to share a pleasant time with friends savoring a glass of wine and a tapas of paella, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the magic at the piano of maestro Carlos Cesar Rodriguez, a musician of great brilliance and versatility, Â who will perform some Manuel de Falla master pieces. Â Â The cost of the event will be free for Patrons, $10 for Members and $30 for general public. Due to limited audience, we strongly encourage you to make your reservation as early as possible. Tapas, drinks, and live music are included with your ticket.
